Battery Design Engineer

Round Lake, IL

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and develop battery systems for infusion pumps, focusing on precision power delivery to ensure accurate medication dosing.
  • Implement advanced safety features such as protection against overcharge, short circuits, and thermal runaway.
  • Integrate real-time monitoring and communication systems for battery health and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of battery systems into medical devices.
  • Conduct performance testing and validation under various operating conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with medical device standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ISO 13485, FDA).

Technical Requirements

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for battery system design.
  • Strong understanding of Li-ion battery chemistry, structure optimization, and thermal management.
  • Experience with switch-mode voltage regulators, low-dropout regulators, and digital-to-analog converters for stable power delivery.
  • Knowledge of redundant detection and execution mechanisms to prevent power failures. ,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 7 years of experience in battery design, preferably in medical or high-reliability environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality management systems.
