Big Data / Hadoop Tester

Location: Richmond, VA - Hybrid
Contract: 12+ Months.

Position Summary: Looking for a Big Data /Hadoop QA Experts who is well versed in working on Hadoop projects familiar on interacting with Oracle/SQL Server/DB2 RDBMS data in the lower-level testing environments. The team member will be required to interact with application teams, architects, governance, and audit for defining the strategies required to onboard new applications. They will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of business operations, processes, and documentation to address product vulnerabilities. They will be reporting daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to help drive the success of projects.

QA DB /Hadoop Tester will work together with incumbent data engineers, batch operations analysts, application SMEs, and DBAs. This person may also need to work with technical resources at third-party partner organizations in order to gather specifications for data sent by or sent to said partner. Finally, they will closely partner with QA and UAT teams in order to tie together test cycles and to make sure that the test cases being run are in service towards the new features being built.

Day to Day Responsibilities
Strong working experience with MS SQL Server Databases and highly proficient with complex SQL scripting to validate source/target data load and transformation.
Experience in Any Automation tool
Experience in Bigdata data pipeline testing with Hadoop/Spark framework in private cloud infrastructure.
Hands-on experience and strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) on Agile Scrum environments
Exposure to Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modelling Concepts
Experience in understanding of ETL Source to Target Mapping Document
Very good understanding of business intelligence concepts, architecture &building blocks in areas ETL processing, Data warehouse, dashboards and analytics.
Good to have knowledge in scripting languages like Python to create automated Test Scripts
Experience on different types of testing that includes Black Box testing, Smoke testing, Functional testing, System Integration testing, End-to-End Testing, Regression testing & User Acceptance Testing (UAT) & Involved in Load Testing, Performance Testing & Stress Testing as needed.
Hands-on experience and strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) on Agile Scrum environments.
Expertise in using JIRA / Excel for writing the Test Cases and tracking the Defects.
Participate in Defect Triaging during Major releases and track the defects for resolution/ conclusion
An effective communicator with strong analytical abilities combined with skills to plan, implement & presentation of projects
Required Skills:
Experience with Hadoop big data tester.
Experience with an ETL
Experience creating automated regression testbeds, including creating meaningful input test data
Experience with scrubbing or anonymizing of private identifying information in a sensitive dataset
Experience with reading and creating entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, and data architecture diagrams
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with third-party teams, such as on a partner integration project
Experience with ticketing systems like HP Mercury, JIRA
Experience with Splunk
Experience on a QA team or with Test First Development may help quite a bit
Experience with working on capturing and seeding Oracle, SQL SERVER and/or Mainframe DB2 data into Hadoop
Experienced in Test Data Management Strategies Like Synthetic Data Generation, data virtualization
Experienced in building sanitized midrange testing environments by leveraging data from production
