POSITION OVERVIEW:

The BI Data Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable business intelligence solutions that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data architectures, ensuring data integrity, availability, and optimal performance for BI systems. They ensure that a formal data standard is adhered to and that the company s data assets align with the business's goals, establishing and maintaining a cohesive data strategy for both internal and external data.

The BI Data Architect is expected to partner with the BI team, senior leaders, and product teams to create scalable, flexible, and resilient architectures that address customer business problems, leveraging Domo as our primary platform for data ingestion, transformation, and visualization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and implement scalable BI architectures to support business objectives and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data models and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure efficient data storage, integration, and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into technical specifications and actionable BI solutions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability across all BI systems and reporting environments.
  • Create and maintain connections to various data sources in Domo via API, direct query, no code JSON, etc.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and guidelines for BI development and implementation.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to existing BI solutions, staying current with emerging BI technologies and trends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in BI architecture, data warehousing, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency with BI tools (e.g., Domo, Power BI, Tableau) and strong knowledge of ETL processes. Experience with Domo is a plus.
  • Have used programming languages such as SQL, Python, JavaScript for data manipulation. R, HTML, CSS would be a plus.
  • Experience designing and implementing data models, database structures, and data integration solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance best practices.
  • Proven experience leading BI projects and managing stakeholder expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend and kneel
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds+ occasionally
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull
  • Ability to withstand external weather conditions (rain, cold, heat or other adverse weather) to perform tasks as assigned
