Position: CAD Technician

Location: Needham, MA

Rate: $25-35 +/hr based on experience

Position Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled CAD Technician to support our engineering and design teams in developing innovative consumer products. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in CAD drafting and design, preferably in consumer electronics or product development environments.

Key Responsibilities

Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo.

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and industrial design engineers to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.

Support prototype development, including documentation and revision control.

Ensure all designs meet industry standards, internal specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain organized CAD libraries and drawing databases.

Participate in design reviews, offering insights and improvements to enhance product performance and manufacturability.

Conduct tolerance analysis, basic simulations, and BOM creation.

Assist in design verification testing and incorporate feedback into updated drawings.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field.

3-5 years of professional experience in CAD design, preferably in a fast-paced product development environment.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms.

Strong understanding of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal).

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills

Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Arena).

Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles.

Exposure to consumer product development or small appliance design.
