Description

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and splice fiber optic cables (loose tube and ribbon).
  • Perform fiber optic testing and troubleshooting.
  • Install rack mounts and fiber optic enclosures per customer specifications.
  • Terminate fiber connections.
  • Core and splice OSP coaxial cables.
  • Balance amplifiers and certify nodes.
  • Conduct aerial line work.
  • Operate bucket trucks safely and in compliance with traffic regulations.
  • Use fiber equipment including fusion splicers, fiber light identifiers, light source power meters, and OTDRs.
  • Read and interpret prints, fiber maps, and splice logs (splice matrices).
  • Audit fiber optic systems and create accurate as-built documentation.


Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber splicing.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical prints and design documents.

Technical Skills
  • Proficient in operating bucket trucks and using hand/power tools.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic networks.
  • Comfortable working from elevated positions (bucket trucks, ladders).

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company policy.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for extended periods on various surfaces.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Availability for night shifts, extended hours, and participation in On-Call rotation.
