What We're Looking For:

The Category Manager will be responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize OPENLANE's direct or indirect spend. This strategic role will play a critical part on the Procurement leadership team developing and driving category level strategies, developing relationships with key senior stakeholders, executing key, complex negotiations, while also leading and coaching analysts in negotiation strategy and development.

You Will:
  • Lead and oversee high-impact category strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the categories assigned such as technology, transportation, Canadian parts and services and other overall category management
  • Be accountable for optimizing Total Cost of Ownership for one or more spend categories (Logistics / IT / Telecom/MRO/ BPO/etc.), in close partnership with the business
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and refine category strategies, to include defining objectives, timelines and creating success metrics
  • Lead change initiatives and facilitate adopting new processes, systems and practices across the organization
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiencies and optimize project outcomes
  • Leverage spend analytics and market intelligence to identify and develop business cases for new cost optimization opportunities
  • Serve as primary point of contact for category stakeholders, providing regular updates, addressing concerns and soliciting feedback
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers


You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business or related area
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing and category management
  • Experience with opportunity diagnostic, purchase to pay and procurement transformation, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract management
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with proven ability to lead and influence stakeholders in all levels of management to optimize Total Cost of Ownership
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to perform in fast paced, dynamic organization with time sensitive deadlines
