Title: Specialist II, Data Management
The Data Management Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing the school district's data management initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing data classification, discovery, standardization, storage, and security, as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive data quality framework. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data management best practices, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring the integrity and security of the district's data assets..
Essential Functions:
Assist in the identification and categorization of data based on sensitivity, confidentiality, and usage requirements.
Maintain and update data classification policies and procedures to ensure alignment with evolving best practices and regulatory standards.
Utilize data discovery tools to identify, inventory, and map data assets across the district.
Collaborate with various departments to ensure comprehensive data discovery, documentation, and alignment with organizational needs.
Develop and enforce data standards and guidelines to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across all data sets.
Partner with data owners to standardize data formats, definitions, and structures for streamlined management and usage.
Support the implementation, monitoring, and management of secure data storage solutions.
Ensure that data storage systems adhere to district policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of data security protocols and practices to safeguard data integrity.
Monitor data access and usage to proactively identify and mitigate potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and implement a comprehensive data quality framework.
Conduct regular data quality assessments and collaborate with stakeholders to identify, address, and resolve data quality issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved institution.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in data management, data analysis, or a related discipline.
Strong familiarity with data classification, data discovery, data standardization, and data storage practices.
A foundational understanding of data security principles and data quality frameworks.
Proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, data discovery tools).
