Civil Estimator

The compensation package this firm offers is excellent for civil estimators with 5+ years sitework experience:

  • $120,000-$150,000 salary
  • 401k w/ match
  • Medical insurance, PTO, etc

This civil construction shop does $100M+ in revenue per year, is growing fast, and looking to bring on talented estimators who are looking to advance their career.

Spoke with the hiring manager, and what he's looking for is very simple - 5+ years civil/sitework estimating experience.

This prime contractor bids projects anywhere from $1M up to $60M and sitework is their bread and butter - moving 100,000 yards of dirt, large drainage systems, miles of pipe, water/sewer lines, etc.

Of course, experience with HCSS, Agtek or similar is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects including earthwork, sitework, drainage, sewer, water, and land development.
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and construction documents to develop accurate estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for bid preparation.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential cost impacts and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize software tools such as HCSS and AGTEK for accurate quantity takeoffs and estimating.
  • Participate in value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing budget management and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and stakeholders, highlighting key project aspects and estimated costs.
  • Conduct site analysis and assessments to inform project estimates and planning.

Qualifications

  • Required - 5+ years civil/sitework estimating experience
  • Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred - HCSS and AGTEK.
