Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Civil, Structural & Architectural Mechanical Engineering Leader to drive the execution of medium to large-scale capital projects across various business units and manufacturing plants. This role is responsible for leading and providing technical direction on capital projects that typically range from $10MM to $150MM. These projects involve site development, building construction, and architectural guidance, particularly for brownfield and greenfield projects. The leader will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including external engineering firms and internal teams, to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead civil, structural, and architectural improvements to enhance product quality, equipment uptime, and line utilization.
  • Develop and manage EPC packages for Brownfield/Greenfield site development and building work. Direct local engineering firms for smaller projects to create traditional design-bid-build packages.
  • Provide guidance on structural solutions to optimize process areas, ensuring effective and efficient designs while validating approaches with internal and external engineers.
  • Challenge engineering teams to explore unconventional solutions that reduce project timelines, such as shifting activities from downtime to pre-downtime or increasing preassembly.
  • Advocate for safe construction practices by reducing labor hours, labor density, and promoting safer work tasks. Lead efforts to implement modular and offsite construction strategies where applicable.
  • Use project management techniques to track and report progress, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Assist sourcing teams in evaluating potential suppliers for major building and site development projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and engineering practices, and support the development of best practices for future projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with a focus on building and site development.
  • Strong background in gated process engineering design and project execution.
  • Ability to travel 30-40%, with some weekend or holiday work to minimize production downtime.
  • Familiarity with standardized estimating systems and relevant software tools (e.g., Word, spreadsheets, database management).
  • Proven track record of driving results and managing complex projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with various execution strategies for capital investments (EPC, EPCM, Design-Build, etc.).
  • International project experience and ability to adapt to local building norms.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (3D preferred) and other design tools.
  • Leadership experience in a matrix organization and in union/non-union environments.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing, and PMP Certification are a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification and experience with strategic planning and capital project execution.
