Job Title: Cloud Disaster Recovery (DR) Expert
Location Options: Fort Mill, SC
Employment Type: Long Term Contract to hire
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Disaster Recovery Specialist to support our client s Technology Resiliency and Business Continuity initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud platforms, DR planning, and execution of DR testing across hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Disaster Recovery (DR) plans across applications and infrastructure.
- Participate in DR governance, ensuring technology owners create and update DR plans as per standards.
- Lead or support DR test planning, coordination, and execution.
- Evaluate and design highly resilient architectures for on-prem and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, DevOps, and architecture teams to ensure resilient solutions.
- Perform risk assessments, identify gaps, and recommend remediation steps.
- Create runbooks, documentation, and DR reports for internal teams and leadership.
- Support automation of DR processes and failover procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and organizational resiliency standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Disaster Recovery, IT Resiliency, or Business Continuity roles.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of cloud DR services such as:
- Azure Site Recovery (ASR)
- AWS DR strategies (Pilot Light, Warm Standby, Multi-Site)
- Google Cloud Platform DR architecture
- Strong understanding of backup, replication, failover, and high availability technologies.
- Experience with tools like Veeam, Commvault, Veritas, NetBackup, etc.
- Ability to create DR documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams.
- Experience with DR test execution in hybrid environments.
- Solid understanding of networks, storage, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect, CBCI, or DRI (nice-to-have but not mandatory)
- Experience in SRE/DevOps with resiliency focus
- Experience with automation (Terraform, PowerShell, Python)
