Roles/Responsibilities:

Professional Services Requirements

  • Conduct discovery and assessment of current infrastructure (compute, storage, network, applications).
  • Develop migration strategy, including inventory, wave planning, and cost analysis.
  • Design and deploy cloud landing zone architecture.
  • Implement migration tooling and automation (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Support network environment transition and changes.
  • Execute migration in phases (rehost, replatform, refactor as needed).
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to LAUSD staff.
  • Post-migration stabilization and support for ongoing operations.
  • Support for open, industry-standard interfaces, APIs, and configuration formats to ensure seamless compatibility with existing District systems, including monitoring, identity services, automation pipelines, logging, and security tools.
  • Compatibility with District-approved open-source aligned technologies (e.g., container orchestration platforms, declarative infrastructure frameworks) for the purpose of ensuring integration flexibility, workload portability, and avoidance of proprietary lock-in.
  • Ability to integrate without requiring proprietary agents, clients, or licensed connectors, except where necessary for security controls approved by the District.
  • Use of provider-operated global network backbones to deliver consistent multi-region connectivity, low-latency data routing, and resilient transport suitable for District workloads.
  • Granular consumption-based billing models (e.g., per-second or equivalent metering) to align cloud costs with District workload utilization patterns, along with automatic usage-based discounts that do not require long-term contractual commitments.
  • Support for multi-account or multi-project segmentation models, enabling distributed governance, delegated administration, cost reporting, and organizational separation as required by the district.
  • Native compatibility with standardized IAM frameworks, including policy-based authorization, role delegation, hierarchical resource controls, and integration with District identity systems.
  • Ability to integrate District network connectivity using open networking standards (e.g., IPSec, BGP, VPN, interconnect options) without reliance on closed, proprietary networking technologies.
  • Availability of modular cloud services (compute, storage, analytics, networking, machine learning) that can be deployed independently and integrated into District workflows using standard APIs.
  • Support for open-format workload portability, allowing workloads, configurations, and container-based applications to remain portable across environments without re-engineering.
  • Compatibility with District security, monitoring, and compliance tools through open logging standards, audit export capabilities, and policy-level integration points.
  • Support for future-state extensibility, including the ability to integrate non-proprietary third-party tools for security, observability, analytics, and automation via open interfaces.
