Work Mode: Hybrid

Location: Hybrid, 3 days/week
in Palo Alto, CA or New York City, NY

In your role as Software Engineering Manager at Kohler Ventures you will
  • Work directly with the Head of Software, software engineering team, and product teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Guide the team in designing and implementing data systems that adhere to modern high throughput architectures while keeping privacy as a top priority.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Cloud Engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the key point of contact between the data engineering team and other departments, translating technical concepts into business solutions.
  • Data Quality Oversight: Ensure the team maintains high standards for data quality and consistency across all stages of the data lifecycle.
  • Data Quality and Consistency: Ensure the high quality and consistency of data through rigorous testing and validation.

Skills/Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading teams that design and development software for cloud systems or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a technical team.
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Javascript, or Typescript.
  • Availability to work outside of standard business hours as needed to be able to collaborate with teams across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to travel 10% if needed both domestically and internationally.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the data engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data warehousing solutions.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical and management information clearly and concisely.

The approved base salary range for this position is
$139,750 - $174,700. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may be
higher than the approved range. This will vary depending on a variety of
factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work
location. This position is subject to Area Salary Differential (Cost of Living
Adjustment) that ranges from 24.5%-30% of base salary for the San Francisco Bay
area. The approved base salary range including ASD for this position is $181,675
- $ 227,110d depending on location. In addition, this position is eligible for
a performance bonus and a special project incentive. Available benefits
include medical, dental, vision and 401k.
