To help drive this effort, Microsoft is investing in the creation of a Modernization team that will play a leadership role in helping our customers achieve this digital transformation through successful modernization of legacy Applications and Databases.
We are looking for an Application Modernization & Migration Cloud Solutions Architect (CSA) to develop high-quality, re-usable technical assets This role will be focused on Application modernization across customers legacy .NET and Java code bases, database modernization across Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server, and the usage of GitHub Copilot with Visual Studio Code to accelerate Azure adoption (re-platform and refactor scenarios). Also, drive skilling content creation to support the areas above.
This role will be focused on developing repeatable IP and assets for broad use by internal Microsoft delivery resources, managing technical product escalations from customers, and interfacing with engineering on product roadmap and feature releases.

We are looking for individuals to join our team of Customer Solutions Architects in our Application & Data Migration & Modernization Delivery Leadership team. As a part of this team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of cloud & AI native applications. You will work directly with the most interesting customer scenarios - And along with your colleagues will identify pattern & trends, and develop technology assets that will be used by customers and partners. You will use these signals to inform our next generation of product offerings.
Candidates for this role will have a passion for solving business challenges through cloud technology. As a CSA for Application & Data Modernization, you will be one of the team of recognized experts in this domain, responsible for influencing company strategy by working directly with customers. You will use your technical expertise to directly help strategic customers, develop re-usable IPs, and enable the account & field teams through internal enablement programs.

Cloud Solution Architecture IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

- Engage as a Community Mentor, contributing to IP development with engineering, participating in the Shadow program, and fostering technical excellence across the Cloud & AI community.

- Develop high-quality, repeatable IP offerings for App & Data modernization.
- Prioritize Security by delivering secure Azure architectures, with emphasis on Defender for Cloud (secure by default).
- Ensure Reliability and Resiliency by performing end-to-end quality assurance of architecture designs, addressing Priority Zero vulnerabilities, and implementing multi-zone/multi-region strategies.
- Champion the Voice of the Customer/Partner, influencing product roadmaps and acting as a trusted technical advisor to Customer Success leadership.

- Engage with Senior Executives (e.g., CTOs, CIOs) to define transformative Cloud & AI strategies and lead Azure consumption planning aligned with customer success goals.

- Maximize ROI on Microsoft Investments by leveraging scale execution engines like Cloud Accelerate Factory and providing oversight for Unified delivery engagements.
- Accelerate Customer/Partner Outcomes Through Delivery Excellence
- Deliver Unified offerings for Innovation workloads as needed and harvest IP and execution insights from these deliveries to continuously improve delivery offerings
- Achieve Cloud Accelerate Factory ACR Targets through hands-on delivery, proactive support, and optimization of delivery proposals using Factory assessments.
- Lead Delivery Excellence on high-value or underperforming accounts, ensuring milestone completion and high customer satisfaction (VSAT).
- Drive Consumption and Usage Impact by protecting and expanding ACR base, enabling MACC and Unified renewals, and delivering consumption excellence across Azure Solution Plays.
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 2+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 5+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 3+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience working in a customer-facing role (e.g., internal and/or external).
- 2+ years experience working on technical projects.
- Technical Certification in Cloud (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google, security certifications).
- In-depth knowledge of Azure or other cloud platforms is essential. This includes experience with cloud architecture, deployment, databases and management of cloud services.
- Working knowledge of software development environments (Visual Studio, VSCode, other IDEs), DevOps and build and release processes (Git, Github, CI/CD, testing), building and deploying containers, creating and deploying IaC templates with Bicep or Terraform.
- Software engineering experience with Programming languages such as C#, Java, GO, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Rust
- Experience with databases such as Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Oracle
- Experience with scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Design/implementation/deployment experience of micro services architecture is a plus
