Commissioning Mechanical Engineer Job Summary:

We are seeking a Commissioning Mechanical Engineer to lead the commissioning and quality control efforts on large-scale hyperscale data center projects for industry-leading clients (Big 5). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in QA/QC, commissioning, and operations of mechanical and electrical systems within mission-critical environments.

Commissioning Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Perform QA/QC inspections on mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, CRAHs/CRACs, pumps, chillers, switchboards, UPS systems, etc.)
  • Oversee and execute Level 2 - Level 5 commissioning activities for hyperscale data centers
  • Supervise site operations, ensuring all equipment meets customer specifications, safety standards, and uptime requirements
  • Develop and review technical documentation, including MOPs, SOPs, and commissioning scripts
  • Conduct functional testing to ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior staff or subcontractors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project timelines
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and industry safety standards

Commissioning Mechanical Engineer Position Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in commissioning, quality control, or engineering within mission-critical facilities (data centers, nuclear, or similar high-reliability environments)
  • Solid understanding of hyperscale data center commissioning processes (L2-L5)
  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, UPS, chillers, switchgear, pumps, valves, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise site operations and ensure compliance with client and industry standards
  • Skilled in writing and executing SOPs, MOPs, and technical procedures
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience
  • Certifications preferred: OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, QA Inspector, lift certifications
  • Military or nuclear background a plus
