Job Details

Job Title: Inspector Construction
Location: San Antonio, TX (onsite)
Contract Duration: 1 year

Position Summary: The Construction Inspector will monitor, assess, evaluate, verify, discuss, decide, resolve, report and document contractor construction activities as to ensure that the design requirements, associated drawings and specifications, along with all Local, State, and Federal regulations and industry best practices, are being met in a safely, effective, and in an environmentally safe manner.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as field liaison between contractors, with various areas, and customers as needed.
  • Ensures contractors are working safely and to Standards and Specifications, processes and procedures.
  • Ensure contractors are following provided designs and standards coordinating approved modifications as appropriate
  • Attend and participate in preconstruction/planning, on-going construction status, and post-construction meetings.
  • Perform field investigations to follow up on work completed and respond to customer concerns.
  • Identify, stop and report any contractor safety infractions to management and/or contract crew management.
  • Meets with contract foreman to assist in problem resolution.
  • Coordinates contractor work with entities and various 3rd party entities.
  • Ensure contract work is performed in a safe and timely manner, meeting expected deadlines, and as economically efficient as possible.
  • Communicates with designers and other stakeholders regarding all changes made in the field.
  • Conducts inspections of Overhead Lines.
  • Plans, coordinates and tracks work assigned to contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
  • Aptitude and experience in reading and interpreting constructions designs.
  • Ability to understand safety and company policies and standards
  • Dedicated and flexible with work time as needed to meet the business needs of work area
  • Ability to work Emergency Call Out
  • Knowledge of construction standards and safety guidelines
  • Extensive experience in Overhead construction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Overhead construction
  • Experience as an Overhead journeyman or above
  • Vegetation experience in Arboriculture or Horticulture
  • Bilingual

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED

Working Environment: Work is performed outdoors with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at job sites. THe noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occastionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Travel between plants as needed. Ability to climb up and down ladders and steps.
