Job Description

  • Administration & Maintenance:
    • Manage, configure, and maintain Solaris (10/11) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent) servers in production, test, and development environments.
    • Oversee patch management, kernel upgrades, and OS-level security hardening.
    • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, implementing proactive measures to ensure optimal performance.
    • Implement and manage patch repositories and documentation
  • Architecture & Engineering:
    • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available UNIX-based solutions aligned with business requirements.
    • Lead migrations, upgrades, and modernization projects involving Solaris and Linux platforms.
    • Automate system tasks and deployment processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Ensure systems meet security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks, NIST, ISO).
    • Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions following the principle of least privilege.
    • Support audit and compliance activities by providing system documentation and evidence.
  • Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Provide Tier III support for complex system issues, root cause analysis, and incident resolution.
    • Collaborate with application, network, and database teams to diagnose and resolve cross-platform issues.
  • Documentation & Mentorship:
    • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
    • Mentor junior administrators and provide knowledge transfer on UNIX/Linux best practices and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

Required:
  • Active US DoD TS/SCI security Clearance with FSP
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing and supporting Solaris or Linux systems in US DoD enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency with system management tools, virtualization platforms, and automation frameworks.
  • COMPTIA or equivalent Security + CE certification
  • Strong scripting skills (HTML, Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation and operational tasks.
  • Experience with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, SSH).
  • Demonstrated expertise in system performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with preparing System Security plans
  • Strong IT security hardening experience (STE/STN)

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with cloud or hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OCI).
  • Solaris certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) or Linux certification (e.g., RHCE) is a plus.
  • Familiarization with delivery under Oracle Mission System Security Program

Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle solution meets the customer's objectives by combining industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. Exercises judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to deliver functional and technical solutions on non-routine and very complex aspects of applications and technology installations. Provides direction and mentoring to project teams, and effectively influences customer leadership on key decisions. Supports the business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain expertise. Resolves complex customer issues by recommending and implementing solutions. Demonstrates expertise in multiple business processes across two or more product families or ability to architect and design technology solutions encompassing multiple products and make decisions based on impact across the stack.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
