Job Title: Controls TechnicianJob Description

As a Controls Technician, you will play an essential role in testing, evaluating, and specifying new or existing company products. This position requires a blend of virtual work in CAD, Drawing, or ERP environments and hands-on tasks in a testing or production environment. You will work independently, often taking technical direction from Controls Engineers and managers, to achieve various objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing and evaluation of both new and existing products.
  • Support the wiring and building of prototypes for new product development.
  • Develop, document, and conduct training for testing protocols.
  • Modify or update wiring schematics or other technical drawings.
  • Create and update bills of material and routings for cost estimates and manufacturing.
  • Assist other technical team members in authoring owner s manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot prototypes and test pieces.
  • Provide support to operations and field service teams on new products, especially concerning BOMs, routings, design updates, and technical questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills
  • Field service experience.
  • Electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Installation and decommissioning of electrical systems.
  • Experience with conveyor systems and conveyance systems.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, Rockwell Automation, and VFD.
  • Pre-commissioning and commissioning experience is a must.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical systems, automation, and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics and customer specifications.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and/or E-Plan.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 0-5 years experience in an applicable engineering field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands-on problem-solving ability in diverse environments.
  • Working knowledge of controls hardware, wiring of control panels, and wiring of controls devices.
  • Experience with ERPs (SyteLine preferred) and PLM or PDM Systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70, National Electric Code, and NFPA 79.
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with all levels of staff.
  • Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Work Environment

The work environment is a pleasant, temperature-controlled, professional office setting within a manufacturing environment. The role involves frequent interaction with the shop floor, where you may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. The noise level varies, and the air temperature changes with seasonal weather. Travel to client sites may be required up to 15-25% of the time, with all travel expenses covered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.
