Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Architect/Data Architect with expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, PySpark, and Power BI. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and guiding enterprise-scale data platforms, ensuring that modern data engineering, analytics, and reporting solutions are well-architected, scalable, and aligned with manufacturing business needs.

This role requires both hands-on technical leadership and strategic guidance to help stakeholders modernize and optimize data-driven decision-making across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Design

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, and ADF.
  • Define and implement data models, warehouse/lakehouse designs, and normalization strategies to support manufacturing analytics.
  • Establish data integration patterns, ingestion pipelines, and governance frameworks across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in SQL, PySpark, and data lakehouse technologies.

Technical Leadership & Guidance

  • Partner with data engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders to translate manufacturing requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Provide architecture reviews, performance tuning, and optimization guidance across SQL, PySpark, and Synapse workloads.
  • Mentor and guide teams in building efficient pipelines, ELT/ETL frameworks, and reusable components.
  • Establish standards for security, compliance, metadata management, and lineage tracking.

Analytics & Reporting Enablement

  • Design enterprise BI solutions in Power BI, ensuring performance, usability, and self-service capabilities.
  • Define semantic models and KPIs relevant to the manufacturing domain (OEE, downtime, yield, energy efficiency, carbon footprint, cost tracking, etc.).
  • Collaborate with business teams to operationalize advanced analytics, predictive maintenance, and digital twin use cases.

Manufacturing Domain Expertise

  • Leverage deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, MES/ERP integration, IoT/sensor data, supply chain, and production metrics.
  • Map data flows across shop-floor systems, quality systems, energy/fuel consumption, and sustainability reporting.
  • Provide insights into how data architecture can drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize operations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6-10+ years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or analytics roles.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, and ADF (data integration, orchestration, pipelines).
    • SQL (T-SQL optimization, modeling, stored procedures).
    • PySpark (distributed data processing, transformations).
    • Power BI (semantic modeling, DAX, performance tuning).
  • Solid understanding of data lakehouse, medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), and metadata-driven design.
  • Proven experience guiding teams in designing scalable and resilient enterprise data platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing domain processes, KPIs, and data flows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data governance, MDM, and data quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architecture (Azure ecosystem) and DevOps/DataOps practices.
  • Strong communication skills to present architectural recommendations to senior business and IT stakeholders.
