CVS Health has a rich set of healthcare data for more than 150 million individuals and provides the best foundation for any ambitious data engineer. As a member of the Data and Analytics organization, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining best-in-class data engineering pipelines aimed at driving best-in-class solutions primarily using Cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform(or Azure). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, business SME's and software engineers, to ensure the efficient and reliable processing, storage, and retrieval of data. You will Provide best-in-class environment where everyone brings their heart to work to build technical solutions to support customers.

As a Data Engineer you will:
  • Manage and support production platform to ensure the quality, performance, and availability of the services that meets business requirements for various CVS Lines of Business
  • Identify, design, and implement engineering process improvements through automating manual processes, optimizing data pipelines, re-designing services for greater scalability.
  • Required to support an on call 24 x 7 cloud Production Environment supporting and administering products & Services involving platform technologies like Google Cloud Platform, Azure, etc. -Work hands-on with customers to develop, migrate, and debug services issues.
  • Ensure server/process documentation is up to date and appropriate or create documentation where none may exist.
  • Tier 2 triage, troubleshooting, remediation, and escalation of tickets tied to the product support function.
  • Build data pipelines using Azure/Google Cloud Platform platform

Required Qualifications

1-2 years of related work experience, including:
  • Experience with cloud platforms: Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Pub/Sub, DataProc, Airflow/Composer, Snowflake, Azure Cloud Services)
  • Proficiency in Unix/Shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with Python and SQL
  • Experience building robust data pipelines focused on data integration and data quality
  • Exposure to AI/ML workflows, including data preparation for model training and inference
  • Exposure to Gen AI Tech stack with Open AI API & Hosted model endpoint Integration

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system
  • Proven ability to design and build data engineering solutions in cloud environments (preferably Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
  • Strong programming skills in:
    • Python, PySpark, SQL, UNIX/Linux scripting
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Query optimization, data structures, transformations, metadata, dependency management, and workload orchestration
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies:
    • Cluster management, Kubernetes, containerized services, cloud storage, workspace management
  • Collaborative experience in multi-developer environments using version control (e.g., Git)
  • Cloud certification in data engineering (Azure or Google Cloud Platform preferred)
  • Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools
  • Knowledge of modern API and microservice architectures
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Domain knowledge in Retail, Healthcare, or Insurance, especially Healthcare industry
  • Experience supporting AI/ML initiatives, such as:
    • Feature engineering, model deployment pipelines, and integration with MLOps platforms
    • Working with AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) or ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, MLflow)
  • Experience with Multi Agentic AI Tech Stack (i.e. Pydantic AI , Lang chain, Lang Graph)with exposure to Agent to Agent Protocol / Model Context protocol

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning (STEM field) or related discipline Master's degree or PhD preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$72,100.00 - $144,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
