Job Title: Data Engineer
Job Description
Join a mission-driven team committed to enhancing family safety and connectivity through innovative technology. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing vast amounts of data to support our real-time location and alert services. Collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer to ensure data reliability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the rapid identification, analysis, and resolution of data disruptions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to prevent data issues.
  • Help maintain and monitor systems for detecting and addressing data-related problems promptly.
  • Provide essential technical support during interactions with partners.
  • Aid in understanding and fulfilling technical requirements in partner collaborations.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Engineer to ensure technical standards and expectations are met.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of effective data monitoring systems.
  • Support round-the-clock data observability to ensure continuous operation and quick issue resolution.
  • Ensure all data engineering practices align with defined SLAs.
  • Monitor and report on SLA compliance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Take charge of incident investigation processes, documenting and analyzing any anomalies or issues.
  • Develop and execute prompt response strategies to mitigate impact.
  • Escalate critical incidents to relevant stakeholders or teams in a timely manner.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience with Python and SQL.
  • Proficiency in AWS (Kinesis, DynamoDB, Aurora, S3 and more).
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Spark and Databricks.
  • Experience with AWS Glue Framework and AWS Athena.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Terraform, Deployment automation, GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with ETL Pipelines and Data Warehouses.
  • Proficiency in Data Quality tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with modern data stack (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow, dbt).
  • Familiarity with open source tech: Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Experience processing and analyzing streaming data in AWS.
  • Familiarity with Data Contracts and Data Lineage.

Work Environment
This position offers a remote work environment, requiring 40 hours per week. The team consists of 15 people divided into four groups: Platform Data - Core, Platform Data - Analytics, Platform Data - QA, and Platform Data - Partnerships. Candidates are expected to support EST hours, preferably from 8 am to 5 pm. Equipment can be provided if needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
