Job Description:
Strategic Data Steward to join our Data Domains team. This role goes beyond traditional data analysis it requires a critical thinker who can connect dots across projects, challenge assumptions, and ensure data is not only accessible but also fit for purpose.
The ideal candidate will take ownership of data, governance, and usability, helping to define and uphold the guardrails that enable scalable, reliable data solutions.
Our goal is to improve the accessibility and quality of our data assets and tools, enabling faster delivery of data solutions and ensuring our growth is never constrained by data limitations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion data quality and fitness-for-purpose across Provider data assets.
  • Define and maintain Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data definitions, and reference data standards.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to establish and enforce data guardrails.
  • Investigate and document data lineage and lifecycle to ensure transparency and traceability.
  • Identify and resolve data integrity issues, inconsistencies, and gaps.
  • Lead efforts to build and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
  • Partner with Data Governance, Data Quality, and Business teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Question and validate data requirements, ensuring they meet business needs and strategic goals.
  • Take initiative to drive data-related projects forward, not just execute tasks.
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to support integration of new data sources.
  • Translate complex data findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
Experience & Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or advanced data analysis.
  • Proven ability to define and manage CDEs, data definitions, and reference data.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle, lineage, and metadata management.
  • Experience with data profiling tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with tools such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience in healthcare data management is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive outcomes without being an order taker.
