Data Visualization Developer
Location: Willow Grove, PA (Hybrid: 4 days onsite)
Reports to: Director, Enterprise Data Platform
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Data Visualization Developer to join our team and help shape how the organization consumes data. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong Microsoft BI experience, a creative mindset for dashboard storytelling, and a hands-on approach to designing and supporting scalable reporting solutions. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing data visualizations and analytics dashboards that translate complex datasets into actionable business insights. This includes involvement in backend data architecture, ETL processes, and front-end delivery using modern Microsoft tools such as Power BI, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
Core Responsibilities
Data Visualization & Analytics
- Design and develop visually compelling dashboards and reports tailored to business needs using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable and intuitive data products.
- Apply strong storytelling techniques to data visualizations to support decision-making.
Data Engineering & Architecture
- Assist in developing backend data models, ETL pipelines, and data refresh processes that support reporting and analytics.
- Work collaboratively with database developers and administrators to optimize data warehousing systems for reporting and insight generation.
- Ensure all reporting components are well-documented, performant, and maintainable.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting goals and provide consultative support for analytical initiatives.
- Support the development of a centralized data management approach that ensures consistency, governance, and usability.
- Contribute to the evolution of our enterprise data and analytics platform through innovation and best practices.
Governance & Quality
- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with PII/GDPR policies in all reporting solutions.
- Conduct system/data analysis, root cause investigations, and provide timely production support.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure alignment with SDLC and performance standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a data visualization or BI developer role.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with Power BI, including dashboard creation, DAX, and data modeling.
- Solid experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and writing complex SQL queries.
- Strong understanding of OLAP/ROLAP concepts, data warehousing (star/snowflake schema), and ETL processes.
- Experience working with Azure Data Platform (Data Factory, Synapse, Pipelines).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical outputs to business users.
- Ability to work on-site in Willow Grove four days per week.
Preferred/Bonus
- Familiarity with R, MuleSoft, or other advanced analytics platforms.
- Experience in finance or utilities industries.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance (PII/GDPR).
- Proficient in data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin).
- Experience with AI/ML is a plus.
- Microsoft certifications in Data Analytics or Power BI.
