Job Description

As a Designer II, a typical day might include the following:
    \n
  • Create detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials and support job estimates under the direction of a technical lead.
  • \n
  • Prepare CAD drawings and other project documentation.
  • \n
  • Provide design engineering support to project technical leads.
  • \n
  • Prepare technical specifications for review.
  • \n
  • Complete assigned work within timelines and budgets with a high level of quality.
  • \n
  • Develop and maintain an intermediate level of expertise in SEL and industry design practices.
  • \n
  • Assist, mentor, and train interns, drafters and entry level designers.
  • \n
  • Develop and maintain an intermediate level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions for electric power system protection and automation.
  • \n
  • Assist with the development of improvements to available processes and tools and provide feedback on process enhancements
  • \n
\n

This job might be for you if:
    \n
  • Associate degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or relevant discipline; or possess equivalent experience for each academic year
  • \n
  • Six plus years of relevant experience with high voltage electrical design, including multiple projects in protective relay control systems
  • \n
  • Ability to learn concepts and technical details of products
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • \n
  • Expert competence in CAD drafting (AUTOCAD or Microstation)
  • \n
  • Intermediate understanding of the installation requirements for protective relays of different type and function
  • \n
  • Willing to travel as needed
  • \n
\n

Preferred Qualifications
    \n
  • Experience testing and commissioning protective relay, process control, and SCADA control systems
  • \n
  • Electrical utility, consulting, or system integrator experience
  • \n
  • Knowledge of protective relay applications and/or automation applications
  • \n
\n

Pay Range Information:

$31.97 - $38.37 per hour. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
