Title: Dietary Support Service Worker
Location: Quincy, IL (62301)
Duration: 12 months contract
Pay Rate: $18-$20.00/hr on W2
Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night): Day 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday
Job Description:
- Under direct supervision, on assigned shift and unit, performs routine and repetitive tasks in the kitchen, dining room, or other dietary areas; assists in preparing foods for cooking and In cooking operations (but does not determine ingredients or proportions); assists in serving food either on a serving line or on Individual plates or trays; assists in all dining room functions. Prepares, loads and delivers food carts to resident care areas and returns carts after serving is completed.
- On assigned shift and unit, performs routine and repetitive tasks in the kitchen, dining room, and other dietary areas. Assists in preparing foods for cooking and in cooking operations. Reconstitutes milk, grinds meat, cleans fruits, poultry, and other foods for cooking. Measures food stuffs, following charts, schedules and recipes. Makes coffee, salads and sandwiches. Assists in serving food on a serving line or on individual plates, maintains proper portion and temperature control and complies with modified diet prescriptions; cuts cakes, pies; fills condiment containers, serves beverages. Prepares sack lunches to be sent with residents on outings; fills substitution box and snack refrigerators. Operates griddle to prepare fried eggs, French toast or pancakes, assists in serving food. Prepares, loads and delivers food carts to resident's care areas and returns carts after serving is completed. Lifts and carries foodstuffs.
- Assists in all dining room functions, performs sanitation duties including washing, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, polishing and waxing floors, walls, windows, and appliances. Cleans kitchen equipment such as stoves, worktables, choppers, grinders, mixers, refrigerators and food carts, and maintains order of kitchen and dining areas. Washes pots and pans; cleans tables and chairs, and other equipment. Reports immediately to the Immediate supervisor all instances of equipment malfunction or failure, as well as safety and health hazards.
- Dates, labels and stores food supplies in pantries, walk-ins and freezers, Checks groceries and food for signs of contamination, spollage and proper temperature; stores and rotates foods properly. Rolates and stores household supplies and chemicals in designated storage area. Handles and uses chemicals and supplies according to directions of manufacturer.
- Performs duties in dishwashing room such as scraping, loading and unloading dishwasher, carts, washing equipment, stores clean equipment properly; cleans maintains, de-limes dish and utensil machines and checks machines for proper temperature during operation.
- Safely operates kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, mixers, choppers, blenders, steamer, slicer, can crusher, -.--can opener, potato peeler, utensil washers, and other equipment as necessary in the performance of dulles.
- Rolates as assigned through all task assignments to gain knowledge and maintain proficiency in all functions of the dietary section. Leams and demonstrates the understanding of various nutritional and diet prescriptions.
- Assists in the training of staff new to the dietary section. Assists new employees with the proper procedures to complete assigned job duties including preparation, service, clean-up, and overall sanitation.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school, supplemented by six months experience in dietary. Requires working knowledge of routine tasks commonly found in the area of assignment. Requires skill in the basic operation of machinery and equipment found in the assigned area.
- Requires ability to instruct others in simple methods and procedures common to the area, Requires obtaining an ANSI accredited food handlers' certification within 30 days of employment. Requires the ability to lift 20 pounds routinely.
Skills Required:
- Bending/Lifting 50lbs: May require squatting, climbing, bending, standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 50 lbs.
