The Director, Strategic Programs serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives while safeguarding financial health and system stability. This role combines operational excellence with strategic leadership, ensuring alignment across Supply Chain Inventory Planning teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. The Director oversees Senior Managers who lead their own teams, making this role pivotal in shaping talent development and delivering a high value service for key McKesson customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans to enhance program scalability and profitability.
- Partner with the McKesson Technology and senior leadership to align department strategies with organizational goals.
- Lead cross-functional planning sessions to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Serve as the escalation point for critical customer and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining client confidence.
- Implement structured escalation protocols and communicate corrective actions to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT to design and implement system enhancements that support strategic initiatives; act as the business-side liaison during system outages or issues.
- Work closely with Data Analytics to create dynamic dashboards that track operational and financial KPIs for leadership reporting and decision-making.
- Partner with Sales, Distribution Operations, and IMx establish business rules and processes that improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Lead and mentor Senior Managers, ensuring they effectively manage their teams and deliver on strategic objectives.
- Build a robust leadership development framework to strengthen managerial capabilities and succession planning.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, feedback, and accountability at all leadership levels.
- Collaborate with Sales and Deal Development teams to identify and onboard new customers, driving program expansion.
- Ensure compliance with governance standards and maintain financial discipline across all initiatives.
- Prepare and present comprehensive program updates, including trend analysis, shortfalls, and corrective action plans, to senior leadership.
- Communicate strategic priorities and progress transparently across all stakeholder groups.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.
Education
- 4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, supply chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Six Sigma experience a plus.
Critical Skills
- 12+ years' experience in areas such as supply chain, product management, purchasing, marketing/sales, and or finance, inclusive of 2+ years' experience in supply chain and 4+ years people management/Leadership.
- Extract large amounts of transactional data from McKesson systems (SQL, Business Objects, SAP, SCORE, Access etc.)
- Organize and analyze data into meaningful and easily disseminated reporting via PC based tools (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Prepare reports and recommendations which can be used to make timely and accurate decisions about service level and inventory issues.
