Position overview

  • Title: Data Modernization Director (1 position)

  • Agency/Project: MS State Dept of Health - Data Modernization Initiative

Core responsibilities

  • Provide oversight/direction for CDC PHIG-funded projects under Strategy A3: Data Modernization, including:

    • Website modernization

    • New licensing/certification database

    • Interoperability improvements for immunization information system

    • ETOR enhancements for the state public health lab

  • Create and implement project timelines; support project leaders after implementation begins

  • Maintain strong communication, stay focused on deadlines/goals; may develop a support team

Required skills/experience

  • Oversight of day-to-day work for multi-faceted data management/modernization projects (planning, organizing, budgeting, etc.)

  • Strong communication with teams involved in collection/management/development of agency data resources

  • Microsoft Office 365 - Advanced (Required)

Additional experience mentioned

  • Work under national data/IT security standards applicable to protected health information

  • Knowledge of data management/visualization/analysis tools

  • Experience with multiple vendors of modern data software/systems/apps

Preferred (not required)

  • Government entity data/IT project experience (including procurement/purchasing requirements)

  • Federal grant reporting/management experience
