Director of Application Development

Our client is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Director of Application Development to lead multiple software development teams and play a key role in the company s digital transformation. This leader will guide enterprise application strategy across .NET, SharePoint, Salesforce, and other platforms, ensuring the delivery of scalable, modern, and customer-focused solutions.
Position Overview
As the Director of Application Development, you will oversee diverse technical teams, champion best-in-class development standards, and collaborate closely with business and IT leadership. You will drive modernization efforts, introduce innovative technologies, and help transform the organization into a more agile, automated, and data-driven enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing application teams across multiple platforms.
Ensure adherence to company software development standards, governance, and best practices.
Oversee delivery of enterprise applications that meet business objectives and enhance end-user experience.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and project management to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
Drive digital transformation efforts, including modernization of legacy systems, cloud adoption, DevOps, and scalable architectures.
Define and track performance metrics focused on productivity, quality, and delivery timelines.
Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party tools and service providers.
Stay informed on emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.
Develop and maintain departmental budgets, resource plans, and capacity forecasts.
Champion process automation to enhance operational speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
Leverage AI and advanced analytics to strengthen business intelligence and automation initiatives.
Lead change management efforts to ensure adoption and enthusiasm around new technologies and processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master s preferred).
10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a large-scale organization (5,000+ employees preferred).
Proven success managing enterprise development teams across multiple technologies (.NET, SharePoint, Salesforce, etc.).
Demonstrated experience driving digital transformation, cloud migration, and modern development practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, SDLC, and governance frameworks.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience with budget planning, vendor management, and resource allocation.
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term innovation with immediate execution.
Deep understanding of IT infrastructure (cloud and on-premise) and secure, scalable solution design.
