Job Details

Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer / East of Cleavland, OH

 

Reports To: Electrical Engineering Manager

 

Senior Electrical Design Engineers are responsible for the oversight and design of electrical and fluid power systems for our Automation Business Unit.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Individually, and through team leadership, develop conceptual designs for electrical and fluid power controls systems based on customer and internal inputs and requirements.
  • Individually, and through team leadership, develop final designs for electrical and fluid power controls systems from input gathered during review(s) of concepts.
  • Work across departments to gather requirements and inputs to create solutions.
  • Initiate and lead a cross functional team to generate Machine Safety Risk Assessments for projects.
  • Participate in a team-oriented phase-gate process.
  • Perform and lead review(s) of concepts and designs with internal teams and the end customer.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with weekly task list updates and reporting.
  • Generate required documentation (prints, bills of materials, etc.) for the project and release to manufacturing/purchasing.
  • Support the construction of the project thru manufacturing, assembly, and runoff.
  • Provide technical expertise and design training to lower level engineers.
  • Technical Support for other departments within the organization.
  • Act as lead engineer or liaison for sub-contractors.
  • Travel to customer sites for necessary project kickoff and review meetings as required.
  • Provide technical support and training for internal and external customers.
  • Complete assigned project work on time per the project schedule, within the project budget, and meet customer and WM requirements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement automation recommendations to improve existing processes.                                                                                    
  • Contribute to operations roadmap to make sure goals are met.
  • Attend regular meetings with support staff and various team members to review upcoming issues, items, and training.
  • Provide support for applications in the way of concept, budget planning and new materials.
  • Update and prepare the final documentation for the project to be submitted to the end customer.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years experience with AutoCAD Electrical. Familiarity with EPLAN / AutoCAD Vault a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards including but not limited to NFPA 79, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E and UL508A.
  • 5+ years experience programming PLC’s, HMI’s and industrial robots. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO safety standards related to machinery and equipment risk assessments, functional safety and industrial robots.

Willingness to travel 5%.
