Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they're well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
As an Engineer - Interiors , you will provide engineering support for aircraft interiors and related systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement engineering projects that support both line and base operations.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement engineering solutions for aircraft interiors, including project justification, cost/benefit analysis, and regulatory compliance.
Review and assess Service Bulletins (SBs), airworthiness directives, and modification requests for applicability to United's fleet, coordinating FAA approvals and warranty recoveries as needed.
Define, optimize, and maintain maintenance programs, configuration criteria, and technical specifications for aircraft interiors.
Collaborate with operational groups, suppliers, and vendors to ensure airworthiness, safety, reliability, efficiency, and minimal operational disruption.
Investigate technical issues, support failure analysis, and provide recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Organize and prioritize tasks to meet project deliverables, deadlines, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare detailed technical documentation for repairs, modifications, and maintenance program changes.
Apply engineering judgment to support fleet-level decisions impacting cost, operational efficiency, and asset utilization.
Occasionally travel to airline maintenance facilities to support inspections, modifications, and project implementation.
Location & Schedule:
This role is based at the CSC - Willis Tower in Chicago, IL, with a hybrid work schedule (three days per week in the office, subject to change).

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Entry level to 5 years of engineering experience
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and manage projects for regulatory compliance modifications.
- Basic engineering expertise in aircraft systems, maintenance programs, and interiors.
- Experience assisting with projects and resolving technical challenges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Advanced engineering degree.
- Boeing/Airbus Structures I, II, III
- Airframe/Powerplant License.
- Experience withCATIA/AUTOCADand maintenance checks on Boeing/Airbus aircraft.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations (FAR 145, 25, and 121).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Airline Industry experience, particularly in interiors engineering
- Familiarity with aircraft interiors materials, components, and cabin systems
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives or interior modernization programs.
