Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Warren, and/or Pontiac, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

Relocation

The Role

The Computer Aided Testing (CAT) team defines and delivers the next generation of test solutions for GM's global propulsion system laboratories. Our mission is rooted in safety, quality, and data consistency, and we partner seamlessly with Product Engineering, Laboratory Operations, and strategic suppliers to deliver maximum value.

We are looking for a strategic, innovative manager to lead a high-performing team of 12 in delivering cutting-edge test solutions across our Proving Grounds and Test Labs located in Pontiac, Warren, and Milford. This role will shape GM's global test capabilities by specifying, sourcing, engineering, integrating, installing, and commissioning new capital test equipment while ensuring data quality and enabling our journey toward a more virtualized future.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Lead and develop a team of 12 engineers/project leaders across diverse test solution projects.
  • Own end-to-end project management for global software rollouts, hardware integrations, and development initiatives.
  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for GM's global test software applications.
  • Manage software licenses, users, and hardware supporting lab testing.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to scope, deliver, and commission new capital test equipment.
  • Ensure software systems engineering rigor, project scoping discipline, and test data quality.
  • Drive supplier engagement and manage vendor relationships to maximize value delivery.


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • 7+ years of project management experience, including large-scale software or systems rollouts.
  • Strong understanding of database and software architecture.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful software projects.
  • Recognized ability to thrive in ambiguous, complex environments while driving timely decisions.
  • Demonstrated success in building strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.


What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration (MBA).
  • 10+ years of project management experience, including large-scale software or systems rollouts.
  • Experience with equipment and automation systems supporting dynamometer or battery testing.
  • Leadership experience with engineering teams developing or testing embedded control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Deliver results through effective teamwork.
    • Drive multiple projects with diverse focal areas to completion.
    • Measure and manage work using metrics, data, and results.
