In this position...

You will support Stamping Feasibility and Stamping Die Process engineering with die design investigations and deliver design solutions and product/process requirements to proposed Die Design Architecture.

What you'll do...
  • Lead the development of stamping processes for current and new model parts, for cost and quality on a timely basis, supported with other company activities to achieve company objectives.
  • Provide knowledgeable liaison of part feasibility, part development, die design, construction, tryout and buyoff for new model tools.
  • Lead the development of Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA's) for new model stampings.
  • Update and maintain existing die process information for the inclusion of improvements, service requirements and carryover modified part releases required for new model usage.
  • Participate in and initiate cost requests for tooling change, and evaluation of engineering proposals.
  • Primary engineering support to N/C, machining, construction, tryout and buyoff of dies.
  • Check vendor designs for compliance with Ford requirements and construction/production deliverables using Virtual Verification tools.
  • Develop Generic Die Architecture models based on PDPD process and target facility.
  • Review customer feedback and develop permanent corrective actions to improve die and part quality.
  • Work with Customers to improve process deliverables in support of company quality/cost/timing objectives.


You'll have...
  • Education: Bachelors Degree and/or Tool & Die Journeymen's Card
  • Experience: 8+ yrs of related experience. Must have 2 years minimum experience in at least one of the following stamping areas:
    • Die Processing
    • Class A surface panels
    • Die Design Die Construction, and/or Tryout.
  • CAD skills required, CATIA V5 preferred.
  • Proficient in reading stamping die designs, both manual and CAD.
  • MS Office proficiency required. (.XLS, .DOC, .PPT, and Outlook)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in ONE FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Even better, you may have...
  • Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering degrees.
  • Understanding of sheet metal FLD Reports and general sheet metal forming methods.
  • Die Design experience for large automotive sheet metal panels.
  • Experience in the use of Virtual verification tools such as Vis-Mock-Up, Smirt to check for die interference, automation clearance, Machining clearance, etc.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Drafting/Design or Tool & Die Apprentice.
  • Familiar with Patterns, NC Machining and Die Construction Practices.
