Job Description
SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Engineering Technician IV.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORP is currently seeking an Engineering Technician IV. Engineering Technicians at SEACORP perform a wide range of technical activities related to SUBMARINE Installations and the production, prototyping, testing, installation, troubleshooting, upgrading and optimization of Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) on a variety of military platforms. Engineering Technicians perform work in a laboratory environment and/or in the field and are often experienced users of a particular system.
Job Responsibilities Include:

- Design basic circuitry and draft sketches for clarification of details and design documentation under engineers' direction, using drafting instruments or computer-aided design (CAD) equipment. \n
- Develops or reviews designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data. \n
- Applies conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and diagrams. \n
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components. \n
- Hardware fittings or test equipment involving a variety of mechanisms; conventional piping systems; and building site layouts. \n
- Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools. \n
- Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems. \n
- Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures. \n
- Sets up and operates equipment. \n
- Records data, measures and records problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level. \n
- Analyzes data and prepares test reports. \n
- Applies methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects. \n
- Constructs experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements. \n
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts. \n
- Adjust or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron. \n
- Fabricate parts, such as coils, terminal boards, or chassis, using bench lathes, drills, or other machine tools. \n
- Provide user applications or engineering support or recommendations for new or existing equipment with regard to installation, upgrades, or enhancements. \n
- Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use. \n
- Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans. \n
- Procure parts and maintain inventory and related documentation. \n
- Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment. \n
- Research equipment or component needs, sources, competitive prices, delivery times, or ongoing operational costs. \n
Qualifications:
Education: Technical School Diploma.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience. Experience in Submarine Installations desired.
As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employeesmust hold U.S. Citizenship.
Location: Middletown, RI
Travel: Quarterly (approximately 4 times a year)
Clearance: Secret
Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.Shipyard - Standing and walking for extended periods of time. Use of machine tools and equipment which will require PPE. High probability of working in confined spaces where movement is restricted. Significant use of hands to operate equipment and tools. Significant lifting of <40 lbs.; occasional lifting >40 lbs. Daily use of computers, including use of a mouse and keyboard as well as viewing computer screens. Sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, lying prone, and squatting on a daily basis. Work is performed in highly variable work conditions to include seasonable variations in weather and temperature. Dust, noise and constant activity associated with the movements of materials and people, and the fabrication of steel, including welding and the use of overhead cranes/hoists. Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes and hard hat required; hearing protection and safety glasses recommended.
