We have an immediate opening for a Engineering Technician to join our assembly team responsible for building of Supermicro products that meet product quality requirements and shipment deadlines. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
Lead and debug systems, rack integration, and server sample systems
Mentor and provide technical direction to junior technicians
Perform rack- and system-level troubleshooting, identifying root causes and proposing corrective actions
Conduct failure analysis and generate detailed reports with recommendations for design and process improvements
Collaborate with R\&D, product management, and manufacturing to support new product introduction (NPI) and development
Review and refine test methodologies, validation procedures, and reliability tests to improve coverage and efficiency
Maintain rack inventory control and ensure compliance with test configurations and documentation
Generate and maintain detailed test reports, capturing configuration, process steps, findings, and results
Interface directly with customers and provide on-site support at data centers (up to 25% travel)
Stay updated on server hardware, storage, networking technologies, and industry best practices
Qualifications:
BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
2+ years of experience in hardware/system testing, validation, and failure analysis (data center or enterprise systems preferred)
Strong knowledge of Linux, networking switches, and server architecture
Hands-on experience with server hardware, BIOS/firmware, storage, and rack integration
Advanced troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, and system-level components
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for report generation
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to explain technical findings clearly
Experience mentoring or supervising technicians/engineers
Electronics and digital components knowledge required
Ability to work independently as well as part of a global team
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%)
Salary Range
$26.00 - $30.00 / hour
The offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
