Role: Factory Automation Architect

Location: Austin - TX

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Factory Automation Architect to lead the design, planning, and implementation of advanced automation solutions across our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in camera vision systems, RFID, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and Industry 4.0 technologies to enable a smart, connected, and efficient production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and deployment of automation systems in manufacturing environments.

  • Implement and integrate camera vision, RFID, AGVs, and AMRs to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Architect Industry 4.0 solutions, including IIoT connectivity, predictive maintenance, and digital twins.

  • Oversee PLC/SCADA/DCS programming and integration with MES and ERP systems.

  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams for seamless automation-IT integration.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, cybersecurity best practices, and industry regulations.

  • Manage vendor selection, technical evaluations, and project timelines.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in industrial automation design, deployment, and project leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of camera vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV).

  • Hands-on experience with RFID technologies for tracking and inventory management.

  • Experience deploying AGVs and AMRs in production facilities.

  • Expertise in Industry 4.0, IIoT, and smart manufacturing concepts.

  • Proficiency in PLC, SCADA, and DCS platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, etc.).

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, MQTT).

  • MES integration with shop floor systems.

  • Strong vendor management and project coordination skills.
