Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive FinOps Consultant who will champion cost efficiency and governance across Azure(primary) and AWS environments. This person will manage billing mechanisms, uncover and identify, automate optimization opportunities, and remediate misconfigurations. They will act as a cultural ambassador, driving FinOps best practices organization-wide.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience : 10+ years
  • FinOps Expertise: Deep knowledge of cloud billing (Azure Cost Management [primary], AWS CUR,Google Cloud Platform billing exports).
  • DevOps/Automation: Strong hands-on with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions). Implement automation workflows (e.g., IaC, policy-as-code) to remediate suboptimal setups and reduce costs.
  • Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform cost optimization, budgets, policies and native cost management tools.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of cloud cost allocation, chargeback/showback, TCO/ROI analysis.
  • Observability/Monitoring: automations to develop usage tracking and anomaly detection.
  • FinOps Fundamentals - Understanding of the FinOps Practitioner role driving transparency, control, and accountability in cloud spend
  • Analytical & Technical Capability - Skilled in analyzing cost data, creating dashboards, and automating processes through scripting or Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Tooling Knowledge - Familiarity with selecting and implementing FinOps tools and services aligned with business needs
  • Collaboration & Influence - Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, facilitate change, and advocate effectively across teams.
  • Communication & Cultural Change - Excellent storytelling, training, and stakeholder engagement to instill cost-conscious behaviors.

Preferred Certifications

  • FinOps Foundation certifications (e.g., Certified Practitioner, Certified Professional, or Engineer)
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner/Associate and Azure Fundamentals/Administrator.
  • Experience in FinOps-related tooling (native cloud cost tools, third-party platforms, dashboards, billing analytics)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Billing & Cost Analysis - Analyze and interpret cost structures for AWS and Azure, including billing cycles, pricing models (e.g., reserved instances, savings plans, spot pricing), and cost drivers. Proactively identify inefficiencies and optimization paths. Identify opportunities for cost savings (rightsizing, reservations, idle resources)
  • Implementation & Remediation - Audit cloud usage, uncover improper or wasteful deployments, and collaborate with engineering teams to correct practices. Implement tagging strategies, enforce cost-aware deployment practices, and integrate FinOps tooling.
  • FinOps Framework Enablement - Foster cloud cost transparency and cultural change by establishing best practices, benchmarks, budgets, and forecasts aligned with the FinOps Practitioner persona
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work across engineering, finance, procurement, and leadership to align cloud spend with business objectives.
  • Tooling Strategy & Governance - Assist in evaluating, deploying, and optimizing FinOps tools and services including cloud-native and third-party platforms to ensure alignment with organizational policies and goals
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting - Define and report on key FinOps metrics: accurate budgets and forecasts, unit cost economics, tag compliance, discount/reservation utilization, and efficiency gains

Continuous Improvement - Promote FinOps maturity by coaching stakeholders, refining processes, and embedding continuous improvement practices
