Role: Automation Architect
Location: Greenwood Village, CO (Onsite)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Architect with deep expertise in building automation frameworks and strategies for backend services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, backend systems, APIs, and microservices, and will be responsible for designing scalable automation solutions to improve quality, speed, and reliability across our backend services.
This role requires a mix of hands-on technical expertise and architectural leadership, guiding engineering teams to establish best practices and driving end-to-end automation adoption.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design scalable test automation frameworks and solutions for backend services, APIs, and microservices (primarily Java-based).
- Define automation strategies, standards, and best practices across development and QA teams.
- Build reusable and maintainable test harnesses, utilities, and libraries to support continuous integration and deployment.
- Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product teams to integrate automation into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Drive automation for functional, integration, performance, and regression testing.
- Mentor and coach engineering teams in adopting automation-first approaches.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies for automation initiatives.
- Ensure test coverage, quality metrics, and reporting are embedded into the software delivery lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation frameworks to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- 8+ years of software engineering / test automation experience, with at least 3+ years as an Automation Architect or similar leadership role.
- Strong hands-on programming skills in Java (required).
- Deep expertise in automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, RestAssured, Selenium, Karate, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability for backend systems.
- Solid understanding of software testing principles (unit, integration, system, performance, security).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
