HPC Computational Engineer | Job Description
Overview

As an HPC Computational Engineer, your primary goal is to ensure a seamless experience for users of our hybrid on-premise and cloud HPC system. You'll achieve this by providing expert support, creating clear documentation, and managing the day-to-day operations of the system. A key part of your role is acting as a subject matter expert in at least one scientific computational domain: e.g. computational chemistry, computational fluid dynamic, process simulation, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the HPC cluster to support R&D, including installation, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware and
  • Ensure system reliability and performance through configuration tuning, troubleshooting, and user
  • Monitor systems for performance and security issues, resolving problems as they
  • Develop and implement system policies that align with company
  • Administer user accounts and manage system
  • Provide expert technical support for HPC use cases in at least one of the following domains: computational chemistry, computational fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, process simulation or systems design

Required Education:

Master s degree (PhD preferred) in relevant discipline

Required Experience:
  • Excellent problem identification and troubleshooting
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience
  • Hands-on experience with HPC use cases in computational chemistry, process simulation or systems design using one or more of the following methods: DFT, MD, CFD, or DEM.
  • Experience with Linux systems, network and security administration
  • Experience with cluster design, performance tuning, hardware maintenance of HPC systems
  • Experience with programming with modern languages and experience with parallel application software, protocols, tools and utilities
  • Understanding of parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre), HPC Schedulers and Workload Managers (e.g., Slurm)
