Junior HVAC Design Engineer
Location: Roanoke, VA area (Onsite Position with one day remote / Flexible Schedule)

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000/yr DOE
Summary:
Our client, a global leader in climate control and data center cooling technologies, is seeking a Junior HVAC Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation Data Center Cooling Products. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who have foundational mechanical design and HVAC knowledge, and are eager to grow their technical and design skills in a highly innovative environment. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers while contributing to system design, component evaluation, and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of HVAC systems by performing calculations, preparing models, and assisting with design documentation.
- Assist with component research and selection, including fans, heat exchangers, and compressors.
- Perform basic refrigeration cycle analysis under guidance from senior engineers.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings with support from the engineering team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design compatibility and system integration.
- Participate in prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Research emerging HVAC technologies and industry standards to support design improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, HVAC design, thermal systems, or related engineering fields
- Basic understanding of refrigeration cycles and HVAC components.
- Fundamental ability to read mechanical and electrical diagrams.
- Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
- Exposure to commercial HVAC, chiller systems, or industrial refrigeration (coursework or internship acceptable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with willingness to learn from senior team members.
