HVAC & LIGHTING SERVICE MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY
The Service Manager, reporting to the Area Operations Manager, is responsible for leading a team of field technicians in the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC & Lighting systems for commercial properties. Responsible for the financial delivery of operational budgets, forecasts, reports, and cash management. Responsibilities include managing and overseeing field technicians, ensuring safety protocols are followed, quality standards are adhered to, and providing technical support to field technicians. Works under general supervision following clearly defined procedures and policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the operational financial performance of the area.
- Develop and implement cost control measures and service standards to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Effectively apply and support consistent use of policies, procedures, programs, and systems.
- Collaborate in the financial delivery of operational budgets, forecasts, reports, cash management.
- To ensure business goals are met, collaborate with Area Operations Support manager to analyze operational reports, focusing on key metrics, and use data to drive informed decisions and improvement.
- Oversee safety, inspections, quality control measures, and the inventory control of equipment and supplies for the area.
- Effectively direct work assignments, evaluate field technician performance, conduct problem resolution, and discipline technicians ensuring discipline and termination practices are fair and consistent.
- Assist with implementation of operational improvements to increase margin growth.
- Collaborate with Area Operations Support Manager to identify areas for improvement and implement changes for a better client experience through timely and clear communication.
- Develop, evaluate, and analyze key operational performance metrics based on company goals and expectations.
- Provides technical support to field technicians to ensure quality of work meets established standards, techniques, and safety requirements.
- Evaluate technician workloads and communicate with dispatch to ensure technicians are being scheduled according to skillset, efficiency, and training requirements in a way that best utilizes manpower.
- Ensures that equipment and materials are ordered and delivered timely for scheduled jobs.
- Review and approve weekly payroll for hourly technicians and non-exempt office staff to ensure employees are paid properly.
- Communicate with vendors concerning product warranties and recalls, and other operational issues with products and equipment used by the service department.
- Meet with operations team regularly to discuss job information, estimated time to complete, labor hours, and material used.
- Oversee service vehicles to ensure vehicles are being maintained and operated and used according to company policy.
- Provide support for special projects as assigned by Area Operations Manager.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Service Manager should possess the following skills, characteristics, and abilities:
- Excellent customer service and sales skills.
- Five (5) years HVAC management related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Some post-high school education from college, trade school or military.
- Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- The ability to read, interpret, utilize, and train on manuals, schematics and control circuits related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Technical aptitude with knowledge of local codes and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions.
- Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong conflict management skills.
- Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments.
- Good computer skills with proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general software navigation.
- Possess a strong personal desire for improvement and the desire to motivate employees to do the same.
- Have a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and background.
- Ability and willingness to work a non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as required.
