Job Description: Head of Operations (Startup)

Job Title: Head of Operations

Reports to: President

Location: Irving, TX

Position Type: Full-Time

<>The Opportunity</>

We are a startup on a mission to revolutionize the IT services landscape. We have landed our first cornerstone clients and are now looking for a foundational leader to build our entire service delivery function from the ground up.

This isn't a role where you'll inherit a team and a playbook. You will be the architect. Reporting directly to the President, the Head of Operations will define our delivery DNA, establish our reputation for client excellence, and scale the engine that drives our growth. You will be a true "player-coach" rolling up your sleeves on early client projects while simultaneously hiring and mentoring the team that will become the core of our company.

If you are a builder who is passionate about creating something from scratch and want to have a direct impact on a company's trajectory, this is your opportunity.

<>What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)</>

  1. Build the Foundation (Strategy & Process)
  • Define and build the entire service delivery strategy from scratch. You will own the playbook.
  • Design and implement a lean, scalable delivery framework (e.g., lightweight Agile/ITIL) that prioritizes speed and client value over bureaucracy.
  • Establish the key metrics and KPIs that will define success for our clients and our business.
  • Collaborate directly with the President and Head of Sales to shape our service offerings and ensure we are building solutions that can be delivered successfully and profitably.
  1. Lead from the Front (Team & Delivery)
  • Act as a hands-on "player coach," initially managing our most critical client engagements yourself to set the gold standard for execution.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop the foundational members of our delivery team (e.g., Project Managers, Technical Consultants, Developers), fostering a culture of ownership, transparency, and relentless client focus.
  • Be the primary executive contact and trusted advisor for our cornerstone clients, turning successful projects into powerful case studies and long-term partnerships.
  1. Own the Outcome (Financial & Commercial)
  • Develop financial models for project profitability, resource planning, and forecasting. You won't just manage a P&L; you will build it.
  • Take ownership of all post-sale client engagements, from kickoff through final delivery, ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and exceed expectations.
  • Provide expert guidance during the pre-sales process, ensuring SOWs are well-defined, risks are identified, and we are set up for mutual success.

<>Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate Profile)</>

  • Experience:
    • 8-10+ years in the IT services or consulting industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Crucially, you have direct experience in a high-growth startup or a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You know how to build and scale.
    • Demonstrated success delivering a variety of IT services (e.g., cloud migrations, managed services, custom software projects) to external clients.
  • A Builder at Heart: You are energized by the idea of creating processes, teams, and culture from a blank slate.
  • Comfortable with Ambiguity: You thrive in an environment where the path isn't always clear and can make sound decisions with imperfect information.
  • Scrappy and Resourceful: You have a bias for action and know how to get things done effectively without large teams or budgets.
  • High Ownership Mentality: You take deep, personal accountability for your work, your team's work, and the success of our clients.
  • Client-Obsessed: You have a natural ability to build rapport and trust with clients, serving as both a strategic advisor and an empathetic problem-solver.
  • A Bachelor s degree in a relevant field is preferred, but your track record of building and leading is what matters most.
