Overview:
We are looking for a highly experienced Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Engineer to join our manufacturing governance team. This is not a hands-on maintenance role it s a standards and documentation specialist position that still requires deep, practical I&E knowledge.
You ll be taking what you know from the field sensors, controllers, PLCs, calibration, cybersecurity risks and translating that into clear, detailed governance documents that set company-wide standards. These will cover everything from valve controller configurations (e.g., Bluetooth/Wi-Fi security) to maintenance protocols and instrumentation setup guidelines.
While 2025 will focus heavily on creating governance documents, there is potential for more plant site visits next year to verify compliance, audit systems, and refine standards in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop governance documentation and standards for I&E systems, including instrumentation, valve controllers, PLC configurations, and cybersecurity requirements for OT devices.
- Translate hands-on field knowledge into clear, usable maintenance and operational manuals for technical and operational teams.
- Define standards for configuration, installation, and maintenance of sensors, controllers, and related OT systems.
- Establish processes for version control, firmware updates, and upgrade tracking for PLCs, controllers, and instrumentation.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure governance standards are practical, compliant, and widely adopted.
- Incorporate cybersecurity best practices for OT, particularly for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi enabled devices.
- Support the rollout of diagnostic tools to identify instrumentation issues and recommend upgrades.
- Maintain alignment with ISA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Next year: conduct on-site plant visits to verify governance adherence, troubleshoot, and provide feedback on implementation.
What We re Looking For:
Required Experience & Skills
- Deep hands-on I&E background in manufacturing or industrial environments including PLCs, sensors, controllers, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation maintenance practices, control logic, and integration between PLCs and DCS systems.
- Experience writing technical standards, manuals, and governance documents.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity risks in OT systems and how to mitigate them.
- Proficient in calibration and testing of instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure).
- Knowledge of valve controllers and configuration standards.
- Strong communication skills for translating complex technical concepts into clear, usable documentation.
Preferred
- Experience with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi enabled OT devices and related security protocols.
- Background with diagnostic tools for instrumentation and control systems.
- Prior experience auditing and enforcing compliance with instrumentation standards.
