Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA ACQ/SERVICES PEO.

Duties

Help

  • Develops and implements objectives, standards, policies and procedures, methods, techniques, and maintains to support an organization or DOD information system-level cybersecurity program.
  • Provides continuing technical guidance and oversight to SD capability providers.
  • Maintains status and monitors progress of the SD capability provider's accreditation program and A and A to include but not limited to artifact documentation, and currency of Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Assists SD capability providers with the risk analysis and management by monitoring SD capabilities for Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and RMF compliance.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis. Your resume and work experience should clearly support your ability to meet these competencies and will be evaluated as part of the entire application process.

  • Attention to Detail - Experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
  • Customer Service-Developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs
  • Oral Communication-Briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Problem Solving-Identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-12 or GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

At the GG-12, qualifying experience is defined as: Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs; and participating in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies along with IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.

At the GG-13, qualifying experience is defined as: Managing programs pertaining to cybersecurity protocols and risk management; con-ducting systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; and promoting awareness of security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in the organizations' visions and goals along with IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-12 and above grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at either grade level.
  • This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to target position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. However promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of a promotion is implied.
