Job Title: Information Security Engineer III
Location: Remote (Virtual – Washington)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer III to join our team, specializing in customer identity and access management (IAM) with a focus on Ping Directory and related Ping Identity products. This role will design, implement, and support scalable directory services, ensuring secure, high-performance identity infrastructure.
You will work closely with IT Engineering and Information Security teams, contribute to enterprise-wide security initiatives, and provide technical leadership to peers and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Ping Directory infrastructure for customer identity services.
- Define security, scalability, and performance requirements for directory services and IAM integrations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on identity solutions and provide consultation across projects.
- Integrate Ping Directory with authentication, SSO, and federation systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize directory performance, replication, and availability.
- Develop and enforce standards, policies, and procedures for directory services.
- Conduct root cause analysis for identity-related issues and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Provide technical documentation and support compliance/audit requirements.
- Stay current on identity security trends, threats, and technologies.
- Participate in risk assessments and recommend improvements to IAM infrastructure.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with offshore teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of IT experience, including 4+ years with Ping Directory or similar LDAP-based services.
- Strong knowledge of IAM principles: authentication, authorization, federation.
- Hands-on experience with the Ping Identity suite (PingDirectory, PingFederate, PingAccess, PingOne).
- Experience with cloud integration (AWS or similar).
- Proficiency with Unix/Linux systems.
- Scripting experience (Shell, Python, or similar) for automation and integration.
- Solid understanding of distributed computing and replication strategies.
- Familiarity with application/data security and common vulnerabilities.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services).
- Previous collaboration with offshore teams.
- Industry certifications (Security+, CISSP, Ping Identity certifications).
- Background in DevOps or Java development.
