Title: Infrastructure Consultant

Location: Harrisburg PA

Terms: Contract W2 only

Job Description:

  • The position is responsible to ensure all backups are completed successfully within the required backup window.
  • Responsibilities include reviewing daily reports on the status of backup jobs and providing management with dashboards that provide visibility into the overall operation and performance of the backup environment.
  • Develops and tracks procedures for tracking off site tape storage, data restoration and recovery testing, data encryption and disaster recovery.
  • Assists in capacity planning for the backup and recovery environments on a regular basis to ensure the planned and anticipated growth of the EDC can be accommodated.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of migration of backup clients from Legacy Networker and Avamar to the IDPA platform.
  • Meets weekly with team lead and project managers to review assigned project and tasks and provide status.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of procedures regarding the EDC backup and recovery infrastructure consistent with customer requirements and Commonwealth standards.
  • Remains current with technology to make recommendations to the backup team lead on the technological direction of the EDC backup and recovery infrastructure.
  • Develops plans for the upgrade of backup software to ensure supportability across all servers within the EDC.
  • Ensures proper security controls and backup/data recovery systems are in place for all EDC servers and storage.
  • Manages the EDC Data Protection Advisor implementation which includes creating reports and monitoring backup jobs across the EDC environment.
  • This position works closely with the server, networking, database, and storage teams to ensure compatibility between all components in the environment.
  • This position must have a good working knowledge of server, networking, database, storage and virtual technologies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, to include those outlined in the CoG Plan when the Plan is activated.
  • Responds to the designated alternate or secondary location when directed in response to a catastrophic incident.

Required Skills:

  • Significant skills and expertise in Dell EMC Networker, Avamar and Data Domain and IDPA - Required - 8 years
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent technical study - Highly desired
  • Experience in managing an Enterprise Backup environment - Required - 5 Years
  • Experience with Dell EMC Networker, Avamar and Data Domain - Required - 8 Years
  • Experience integration of backup infrastructure hardware and software - Required - 3 Years
  • Enterprise experience working in a Windows (2008/2012) environment - Required - 3 Years
  • Experience with the planning of and migration of clients from multiple platforms to the IDPA platform - Required - 3 Years
  • Enterprise experience and demonstrated technical proficiency in Unix/Linux Administration - Required - 3 Years
  • Enterprise experience and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft - Required - 3 Years
  • Enterprise experience and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft PKI - Required - 3 Years
  • Experience working in a Data Center Environment - Required - 3 Years
  • Experience working in Change Management atmosphere consisting of detailed policies/procedures - Required - 3 Years
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues - Required - 5 Years
