Description

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Springfield, Massachusetts. In this Contract-to-Permanent role, you will play a critical part in managing enterprise-level network infrastructure and monitoring systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of robust IT solutions within the education industry.

Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain tools for enterprise-level network infrastructure management, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Design, deploy, and support systems for IP address management, DNS, and DHCP using technologies such as Infoblox.

Develop and enhance automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Perl to streamline IT processes and integrations.

Create and update detailed technical documentation, including diagrams and procedures, to support system configurations and troubleshooting efforts.

Implement and oversee network monitoring solutions, such as SolarWinds and Nagios, to forecast, alert, and report on system performance.

Perform Unix and Windows system administration tasks for deployed infrastructure and monitoring tools.

Analyze network traffic using tools like Wireshark to identify and resolve performance issues, contributing to mitigation strategies.

Collaborate on the development and enforcement of IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Troubleshoot complex network outages and performance issues, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption.

Provide technical guidance and support to team members in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience managing large-scale networks.
Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, IP address management tools such as Infoblox, and related infrastructure technologies.
Hands-on experience with network and system monitoring tools, including SolarWinds and Nagios.
Strong scripting skills in languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Perl to enable automation and integration.
Advanced knowledge of network troubleshooting tools like Wireshark for packet analysis.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills to assess, implement, and monitor IT solutions effectively.
Ability to create clear technical documentation and relay complex information in a comprehensible manner.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
