Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a n Infrastructure Hardware Systems Engineer to join the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Ground Sustainment Services (LGSS) program to add to our distinguished team to sustain and enhance the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS). The JPSS CGS is responsible for implementing JPSS Program command, control, and communications and data processing requirements for JPSS CGS-serviced missions. The JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation Program that acquires and distributes global environmental data from multiple polar-orbiting satellites, playing a critical role to NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans, coasts, and space environments, which supports the Nation's economy and protection of lives and property.

Responsibilities:

Provide support for system design, deployment, and implementation of Information Technology (IT) systems within Linux and Windows infrastructures .
Develop and design hardware systems architecture based on project requirements .
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and requirements .
Research, evaluate, and recommend new hardware and software solutions .
Conduct comparative analyses of hardware and software options for specific projects .
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business drivers and requirements for cloud migration .
Identify systems and applications suitable for migration to the cloud .
Create and maintain detailed technical drawings, diagrams, and schematics .
Create and maintain detailed design documentation .
Ensure accuracy and completeness of program technical documentation .
Monitor and analyze physical and virtualized environments to track resource allocation .
Support integration efforts for hardware components into larger systems .
Support procurement efforts for new material and maintenance renewals .
Support ongoing obsolescence analysis of existing hardware and software .
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science ,Engineering/related field and 5-7 years' experience or Master's D egree and 3-5 years' experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 12 years relevant experience
Demonstrated proficiency in system design, design principles, implementation, and troubleshooting across various platforms .
Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based infrastructures .
Proficiency in designing, deploying, and managing virtualized environments to optimize resource utilization and performance .
Expertise in VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter Server, and Horizon View
Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and administration .
Hands-on experience with hardware including servers, networking equipment, and storage solutions Knowledge of product specifications, configurations, and best practices for deployment and maintenance .
Experience in managing changes to hardware designs, requirements, and project plans. Ability to assess the impact of changes, obtain approval, and implement changes effectively while minimizing disruption .
Experience in troubleshooting system issues and optimizing performance for mission-critical applications .
Proficient in creating formal drawings and schematics for system architecture, system diagrams, network topologies, and other visual representations of hardware and infrastructure designs. (Visio experience required , AutoCAD recommended) .
Knowledge of electronic components and their specifications. Ability to select appropriate hardware components based on performance requirements, cost considerations, and availability .
Experience in collaborating with hardware vendors, software providers, and service providers to evaluate products and services .
Ability to obt ain a Public Trust clearance .
Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, project teams, and management. Ability to present technical information in a clear and understandable manner .
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in documents, drawings, requirements specifications, and interface control documents .
Strong documentation skills with the ability to create detailed technical specifications, design documents, and assembly instructions for hardware systems .
Understanding of Windows Server functions ( Active Directory, DNS, GPOs, etc.) .
Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, IPV6, etc.) .
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices .
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide timely solutions .
Ability to engage with customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements, address concerns, and provide technical support throughout the proposal and project lifecycle .
Experience in preparing technical proposals, bid responses, and Bill of Material for hardware design projects. Ability to articulate technical solutions, project scope, timelines, and resource requirements effectively .
Knowledge of interface control documentation (ICD) to define and manage interfaces between hardware components, subsystems, and external systems. Ability to create and maintain interface control documents to ensure interoperability and compatibility .
Familiarity with configuration management principles and tools for managing changes to hardware designs, documents, and related artifacts throughout the project lifecycle .
Knowledge of quality assurance principles and processes to ensure hardware designs meet quality standards and compliance requirements. Experience with quality assurance inspections and audits .
Understanding of risk management principles and techniques to identify , assess, and mitigate risks associated with hardware design projects .
Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Confluence, etc.
Familiar with working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices
Within commuting distance of Chantilly, VA

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
