Position Summary - Inventory Accountant, West / Southwest Houston

Seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Accountant with strong NetSuite expertise to support government contracting operations. This role ensures inventory accuracy, cost compliance under FAR Part 31, and audit readiness for DCAA and DCMA. The ideal candidate combines accounting rigor with systems knowledge and works cross-functionally to maintain accurate records, reconcile balances, and produce timely, compliant reporting.


Key Responsibilities




  • Manage and reconcile inventory transactions in NetSuite, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and assemblies.


  • Ensure proper accounting for direct, indirect, and unallowable inventory costs per FAR 31.205.


  • Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger and project/job cost reports.


  • Track government-furnished and contractor-acquired property per DFARS .


  • Oversee inventory valuation and accuracy of financial and job cost data.


  • Coordinate physical and cycle counts; investigate and resolve variances.


  • Collaborate with operations and procurement on material cost tracking and WIP visibility.


  • Support Incurred Cost Submissions and other required materials-related reporting.


  • Provide audit support with documentation and reconciliations.


  • Create and maintain NetSuite reports to monitor balances, turnover, and compliance.



Required Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


  • 5+ years' accounting experience in government contracting or manufacturing.


  • Hands-on NetSuite ERP experience (Inventory, Projects, Cost Accounting).


  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS for material and inventory costs.


  • Audit preparation experience for DCAA/DCMA.


  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).


  • Strong organization, accuracy, and deadline management skills.



Preferred Qualifications




  • CPA, CPA candidate, or CGFM.


  • Familiarity with ICE Model and Schedule B reporting.


  • Experience with serialized inventory, WIP, and valuation analysis.


  • Knowledge of internal controls for government property and inventory systems audits.
