Java Swing Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City,. UT that is seeking a Java Swing Developer.

Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer with strong experience in Java Swing, Oracle and JavaFX to support the development and enhancement of desktop-based software applications. This role will involve designing and implementing user interfaces, integrating back-end logic, and ensuring responsive, user-friendly application performance.

Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain desktop application interfaces using Java Swing and/or JavaFX
* Enhance existing legacy Swing UIs and assist with migration to JavaFX
* Collaborate with backend developers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into functional interfaces
* Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance
* Integrate APIs, services, or databases as required
* Write and maintain clear, scalable, and efficient code
* Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3-5+ years of professional Java development experience
* Strong hands-on experience with Java Swing and JavaFX
* Understanding of event-driven programming and multithreading in GUI applications
* Experience building reusable UI components and custom controls
* Familiarity with RESTful API integration, JDBC, or ORM tools
* Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* Experience modernizing legacy desktop applications
* Exposure to build tools (Maven/Gradle) and version control (Git)
* Knowledge of accessibility and internationalization (i18n)
* Familiarity with Java 8+ features (e.g., lambda expressions, streams)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
