Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring for Junior Developer t o work as part of a team (junior to mid considered) developing cloud-based tools supporting intake, validation, metadata processing, and submission for a federal digitalization platform.
This position will be located in the DMV and will be fully remote position with infrequent opportunity to travel .
Responsibilities
Serve as an experienced junior (to mid) member of a development team for an enterprise-grade platform supporting a complex federal digitalization program. This role will participate in development and integration of applications and/or modules as directed by a SW Development Lead/Architect. Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems. May be involved in planning of system and development deployment. Must undrstand the importance of meeting software compliance standards (to include Section 508). MMay prepare operating instructions, compile documentation, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements.

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. - Designs and codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.
- Maintains and modifies existing software applications.
- Analyzes detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.
- Performs modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures.
- Participates in code reviews to represent reviewed work for adherence to standards and specifications.
- Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation and user guides in accordance with standards.
- Operates systems within FedRAMP High-certified cloud environments, meeting continuous compliance standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience).
- 2+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Proven experience delivering secure applications.
- Some front- and back-end understanding and experience.
- Strong team mentality.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Some experience with the following would be beneficial:
- NodeJS ESM, TypeScript, Java with Spring Framework or Spring Boot
- Some understanding of object reference via JavaScript and Node event-emitter experience
- React (v17+), Next.js, Vue.js, Rollup.js
- Some understanding of React component architecture
- Jest, Puppeteer or Playwright
- Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or any other CI/CD pipeline/workflow technology
- PostgreSQL, Hibernate or H2, Drizzle ORM
- Understand data modeling at the schema creation level
- Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or other Message Queue
- RESTful APIs and the HTTP protocol
