Job Details

Role Name: Kafka Administrator With Financial Domain in GA/IL  Location: Atlanta, GA (Open to Atlanta and Chicago candidates only)
 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and manage Apache Kafka clusters (on-premises and cloud-based)
  • Monitor cluster health, performance, availability, and capacity
  • Manage Kafka topics, partitions, replication, and retention policies
  • Monitor and tune Kafka using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Confluent Control Center
  • Implement and enforce Kafka security controls, including authentication, authorization, and encryption
  • Apply security best practices such as TLS, Kerberos, and RBAC
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kafka brokers, producers, and consumers
  • Collaborate with platform architects and application teams to support real-time streaming and data use cases
  • Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Support Kafka upgrades, patching, backup, and disaster recovery planning

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of overall experience in software engineering
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Kafka administration within enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of Kafka internals, ZooKeeper, and Kafka Connect
  • Experience deploying and managing Kafka in cloud-native environments (AWS MSK, Confluent Cloud, or Kubernetes-based deployments)
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and monitoring/logging tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
